Van leasing with First Flexi Lease

Whether you need a single van for your sole trader business or are building a commercial fleet, First Flexi Lease offers flexible van leasing solutions to suit every type of operation. Our flexi lease agreements give businesses the agility to respond to changing workloads — scale up during busy periods and scale back when demand eases, all without being tied to a long-term financial commitment.

Business van leasing through First Flexi Lease is VAT-efficient: VAT-registered businesses can typically reclaim 50% of the VAT on a van used for mixed purposes, or 100% if the van is used exclusively for business. Our team can walk you through the tax implications and help structure your agreement correctly. For more information or to discuss your fleet requirements, get in touch via our contact page and we will respond promptly.

New to van leasing or unsure about the difference between contract hire and flexi lease? Our FAQ page answers the most common questions about van rental agreements, mileage limits, maintenance options and end-of-contract obligations. We work with sole traders, limited companies and charities — and our straightforward approach means you always know exactly what you are signing up for.

ULEZ & Clean Air Zones

ULEZ-compliant van leasing

If you drive in London or any of the UK's growing list of Clean Air Zones, ULEZ compliance is not optional — it's a daily charge for non-compliant vehicles. The good news for anyone leasing a van through First Flexi Lease: our entire stock of new and recent vans meets ULEZ standards by default. You shouldn't have to think about it, and on a Flexi Lease you don't.

What ULEZ-compliant actually means for vans

ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) sets minimum emissions standards for vehicles entering the zone. For vans and minibuses, the threshold is Euro 6 for diesels and Euro 4 for petrol. Diesel vans built before September 2016 typically don't qualify; almost everything built after does. Modern manufacturer stock (Ford Transit, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Vito, VW Transporter and Crafter, Peugeot Expert and Boxer, Citroën Berlingo and Dispatch — across recent model years) is built to Euro 6 as standard.

Specific stock varies — we'll confirm the Euro standard on the quote — but if it's on this site as a current Flexi Lease offer, it qualifies for ULEZ and the major Clean Air Zones at zero daily charge.

Where it matters

The list of UK cities operating ULEZ-style emission zones has grown sharply over the past few years. If you operate, deliver, or just visit clients in any of these areas, ULEZ-compliance is a working requirement, not a nice-to-have:

  • London (ULEZ — all London boroughs)
  • Birmingham Clean Air Zone
  • Bristol Clean Air Zone
  • Bath Clean Air Zone
  • Bradford Clean Air Zone
  • Tyneside (Newcastle & Gateshead) Clean Air Zone
  • Sheffield Clean Air Zone
  • Portsmouth Clean Air Zone
  • Greater Manchester (Clean Air Zone framework)

Zone boundaries, charges and exemption rules differ by city and change from time to time. Check the operator (Transport for London, or the relevant local authority) for the current scheme rules.

What this means for you on a Flexi Lease

  • No ULEZ daily charge on your leased van — it's compliant from day one.
  • If you trade across multiple Clean Air Zones (a common pattern for couriers and tradespeople with regional patches), the lease covers you everywhere by default.
  • You don't take depreciation risk on a non-compliant asset — at end of term you hand the van back, and we deal with the next stage.
  • If your work is mostly inside a Clean Air Zone, an electric van is worth a separate conversation — zero tailpipe emissions, zero daily charge, and (depending on the zone) sometimes additional incentives. Ask at quote stage.

A note on accuracy.

Each Clean Air Zone is run by a different operator with its own rules, boundaries and charge schedule. We confirm the Euro standard on every quote — but always check the relevant zone's current rules (TfL, or the relevant local authority) before relying on compliance for a specific journey or operation.

Van LeasingFAQs

We stock a wide range of commercial vehicles including small panel vans, medium-wheelbase vans, large vans and specialist body types. Available makes include Ford, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Vauxhall and more. Stock changes regularly, so browse our live offers for the latest availability.

Our van leases are available to both business and personal customers. VAT-registered businesses can often reclaim some or all of the VAT on a commercially used van, making the effective monthly cost significantly lower. Prices on our site are shown both ex-VAT (business) and inc-VAT (personal).

Flexi van lease terms start from 6 months and extend up to 24 months. Shorter 6-month agreements require a 1.5-month initial rental. Agreements of 12 months or more require a 3-month initial rental. All monthly payments are fixed throughout the term, giving you complete cost certainty.

A credit assessment is standard practice for most lease agreements. However, our flexi lease products are designed with flexibility in mind, and we consider applications from businesses and individuals with varying credit profiles. We encourage you to get in touch to discuss your circumstances directly.

Some of our van offers include a fully maintained option that bundles in routine servicing, MOTs, tyres and roadside assistance into one fixed monthly payment. This is clearly marked on the relevant offer pages. If maintenance is not included, you are responsible for keeping the van serviced to manufacturer standards.

Yes, we work with businesses of all sizes including sole traders running a single van through to companies managing larger commercial fleets. Fleet enquiries are handled directly by our team who can source multiple vehicles, stagger contract start dates and provide consolidated invoicing. Contact us to discuss your fleet requirements.

In some cases, a refundable damage deposit may be required. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis and may depend on factors such as driving history or previous rental experience. Your advisor will discuss this with you before any agreement is finalised.

Yes — our entire stock of new and recent vans meets the ULEZ Euro 6 standard for diesels (or Euro 4 for petrol), so they enter London's ULEZ and other UK Clean Air Zones (Birmingham, Bristol, Bath, Bradford, Tyneside, Sheffield, Portsmouth, Greater Manchester) at zero daily charge. We confirm the Euro standard on every quote. Always check the current rules of the specific zone before relying on compliance for an operation.
